Preschool Pathways professional learning and resources

Learn about our online learning and resources to help early childhood educators support parents of children transitioning to preschool.

Preschool Pathways recognise that:

  • parents and carers are their child’s first teacher
  • successful transitions will look different for every child.

Educators can share our resources with parents on supporting their child's transition to preschool.

Online learning for educators

Our free online learning supports early childhood education and care (ECEC) service providers, preschools and community groups to:

  • enhance transition practices
  • work with parents and carers
  • build parents and carers' knowledge and confidence to support their child's transition to preschool.

Each learning module:

  • provides online and face-to-face delivery options
  • includes a slide deck, supporting resources and a facilitator guide
  • can be delivered as stand-alone sessions or connected sessions
  • is designed to be adapted to meet the needs of the setting and community.

The 4 modules are:

  • Supporting your child in their transition to preschool (for parents and carers)
  • Learn to play, play to learn (for parents and carers)
  • Best practice transitions (for ECEC service providers and preschools)
  • Train-the-trainer (for facilitators).

Preschool Pathways Partners

The Preschool Pathways Partners work with educators in:

  • ACT public preschools
  • ECEC services that partner in the targeted 3-year-old initiative.

Through coaching support, they build educators’ knowledge, confidence and capacity to:

  • implement inclusive practices
  • enhance transitions and provide continuity for children and families.

Coaching support is triaged based on the circumstances of a setting and the level of support needed.

For more information, or support to deliver the modules, email preschoolpathways@act.gov.au.
