Overview

The light rail network is better connecting Canberra to meet our growing city's transport needs now and in the decades to come. Our modern transport network will safely and reliably connect people to work, family, learning, communities and attractions. Light rail to Woden builds on the success of Stage 1 (Gungahlin to City) and will form the network's north-south spin, connecting Canberra's southside with the city and on to Gungahlin.

Canberra's light rail network is projected to move 39,000 passengers a day as Canberra's population grows to over half a million people. Light rail to Woden is being built in two stages for a faster project delivery. City to Commonwealth Park will deliver the first 1.7 kilometres of track, while Commonwealth Park to Woden will continue the line all the way to Woden.
