Design principles

A set of design principles will guide the project through ongoing design development. These principles are outlined as part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), and in some cases precinct specific principles will be established.

The design principles were updated in 2024 to reflect community feedback.

The EIS and precincts

Light Rail Stage 2B is being designed to sensitively integrate with its surrounding environment.

The EIS is structured to consider the communities and the local environment in seven distinct precincts as well as to identify specific impacts and management strategies. Both cumulative and project-wide issues, potential impacts and benefits, and mitigation measures have also been identified.

Visit the digital EIS platform to read more about each precinct.

You can find out more about the EIS process and previous studies through the Australian Government’s EPBC Act Public Portal.
