The ACT Government supports building a more accessible and inclusive ACT, where people with disability can fully participate in all aspects of community life. The ACT Government also understands the need to balance different parking and active travel needs whilst keeping the road available for the safe movement of traffic.

The ACT Government recognises the importance to wellbeing of access to public transport, particularly for people with reduced mobility. Opportunities to improve access will be explored through future public transport planning.

The Rivett Shops provides parking for all drivers, including disabled parking. Examination of Rivett Shops parking will be undertaken to monitor changes within the area.

The implementation of the existing ACT Government suite of disability inclusion strategies and the new Disability Inclusion Act 2024 will ensure a more inclusive, accessible and sensory friendly Canberra for all people with a disability, including people with sensory sensitivity. This aligns to the wellbeing domains of Governance and institutions and Access and connectivity.

Actions to review student and location requirements at school finishing times will improve the passenger experience for public transport users in Hawker and the surrounding suburbs. This will be through updates to departure times, and an assessment of vehicle size and passenger capacity to best manage crowding on existing services as part of a new bus network.
