Access sterile injecting equipment and safe disposal facilities at locations across the ACT.

People who inject drugs can access sterile injecting equipment and safe disposal facilities for used equipment at various locations in the ACT.

The Needle and Syringe Program, operated by Directions Health Services, aims to reduce the risk of transmission of the HIV virus and other blood borne diseases. It also provides condoms and education on harm minimisation including safer sex practices and safer injecting.

Who can use the service

The service is available to anyone who has alcohol or drug issues.

Locations and opening hours

Sterile equipment is available from:

  • the main Needle and Syringe Program services in Civic and Phillip
  • participating pharmacies and community health centres
  • several syringe vending machines across the ACT.
