2026

Canberra Nature Park temporary closures for kangaroo management

Sections of Canberra Nature Park will be closed for visitor safety during kangaroo management operations.

Closures apply from Tuesday 9 June to Friday 31 July 2026.

During this period, the listed reserves will be closed from 6 pm to 6 am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

2025

The 2025 conservation cull started on 10 June and concluded on 31 July. Sixteen reserves were closed during this time and 2,978 kangaroos were culled.

Fertility control 2025

Fertility control activities through the ongoing use of GonaCon Immunocontraceptive Vaccine took place at selected sites as part of the 2025 Kangaroo Management Program.

2023

The 2023 conservation cull started on 12 June and concluded on 21 July. Six reserves were closed during this time and 1041 kangaroos were culled by Conservation Officers across five reserves.
