Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation Establishment and Expansion Fund

Summary

The Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation Establishment and Expansion Fund (AEEF) responds to what we have heard from the community-controlled sector. It provides a funding source for local Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to support them to establish, grow and be more sustainable.

By supporting ACCOs to build organisational capacity and capability, we collectively work to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Canberra.

This fund supports commitments the ACT Government made under the:

  • National Agreement on Closing the Gap Priority Reform 2: Building the community-controlled sector
  • ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019 to 2028.

To design the fund and grant application process, the Aboriginal Service Development Branch in the Health and Community Services Directorate is leading engagement and collaboration activities with ACCOs and government stakeholders.

The fund is $3.86 million over 4 years. Grant applications open in 2025.
