Thriving Kids funding and commitments
What the ACT has committed
Backed by a $20.305 million initial investment over five years, and part of a $63.4 million joint ACT and Commonwealth reform investment, Thriving Kids will expand access to developmental supports and allied health services across the Territory.
How the funding will be used
From 1 October 2026, the ACT Government began providing new Thriving Kids services and supports for children and their families and carers. The supports are for children from birth to 8, with developmental delay and/or autism and with low to moderate support needs.
Based on the national model for Thriving Kids, the funding will support:
- information to help families find the right supports in their state or territory
- programs for families that help support their child’s development
- targeted supports (like allied health, low-cost assistive technology and capacity building) for children and families who need it
- measures to assist workforce capability and readiness.
To get the most from this funding, we will make sure:
- services work well together
- services are based on strong evidence
- we listen to feedback from families and children.
What has been agreed nationally
The Australian Government and state and territory governments have agreed in principle to change NDIS access arrangements to support the rollout of Thriving Kids. Read all the bilateral agreements.
