The public space upgrades at Dickson Shops aim to create a safe, accessible, and welcoming shopping and community hub. The improvements will help the Dickson Shops meet the needs of a growing population and attract visitors.
Designs have been developed based on feedback from local businesses, building owners, and community members. They have also been informed by community input as presented in the Dickson Place Plan.
The proposed improvements have been carefully designed to lift the quality of the public environment and complement the recent Woolley Street works, whilst preserving Dickson’s character.
Facilities include:
- New and recycled paving and lighting, improved seating and reuse of existing sculptures
- More trees and plants
- Decluttering of Taglietti Square (library plaza) and a widened pedestrian connection to Cowper Street
- Stormwater improvements and enabling work to support CCTV.
Project benefits
- Enhanced pedestrian safety, comfort and playful elements
- Increased permeable surface area, helping to reduce runoff and replenish ground water
- Improved pedestrian connectivity and accessible parking spaces
- Better drainage and durability to address drainage issues and prevent flooding.
