An ACT Government Website

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) program will move from the North Canberra Hospital campus to a purpose-built facility in Erindale.

This change is part of the Northside Hospital project and will support ongoing, high-quality care for young people and their families.

Current update

  • Construction is expected to start in early 2026, subject to planning approvals.
  • The Development Application for the Erindale site has been lodged and is open for public comment.

Overview

The new facility will bring key youth mental health programs together in a calm, therapeutic setting designed for recovery and support.

Services that will move to the Erindale site include:

  • The Cottage Day Program
  • CAMHS Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • The Childhood Early Intervention Program (CEIP)

Users, families and CAMHS teams will be invited to share feedback to help shape the building design.

Community engagement

CAMHS staff, students and families will play an important role in the design process. Consultations will take place in 2026 to ensure the facility reflects the needs of service users.
