The ACT Infrastructure Plan Update: Housing, Land Release and City Planning [PDF 4.6MB] outlines the delivery of a more sustainable and efficient city that provides more housing options for the people of Canberra.

The ACT Government is committed to increasing housing stock within the existing urban footprint. Through the Indicative Land Release Program, the Government will be releasing a range of greenfield and infill sites over the next five years which will see many more homes become available in the Territory.

This update also covers key enabling infrastructure for the planning and growth of our city, supporting economic development opportunities for business and community as well as ensuring our city remains a great place to live for all Canberrans. While this update details many different classes of infrastructure - from roads to stormwater to utilities – this is fundamentally investment in new homes for a growing Canberra.

Key housing priorities include:

  • the $80 million Affordable Housing Project Fund, to grow the supply of affordable rentals and strengthen the community housing sector;
  • the delivery of 1400 new and renewed homes as part of the Growing and Renewing Public Housing Program; and
  • the Social Housing Accelerator Program.

The investments made today are crucial for creating a healthier and happier city that Canberrans will call home for years to come.
