In some situations you can get a resupply of the oral contraceptive pill (the pill) from an ACT pharmacy. You do not need a prescription.

Who can use this service

To qualify you must be:

  • a woman or person with a uterus aged 18 to 35 years (inclusive)
  • taking the pill for contraception (birth control).

You must also have been prescribed a low-risk oral contraceptive pill continuously for the last 2 years by a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Who can’t use this service

If you are not taking the pill for contraception you must get a prescription from your:

  • doctor (GP) or
  • nurse practitioner.

Participating pharmacies

You may have to make an appointment with the pharmacy.

The pharmacy may charge a fee for both the consultation and medicine.

What the pharmacist can give you

If you qualify, pharmacists can re-supply the oral contraceptive pill for up to 12 months.

They must give you the same type of contraceptive pill that your doctor or nurse practitioner prescribed you before.
