Summary

Our strategic priorities recognise that creating a safer community relies on strong collaboration within ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) and with the broader community.

A central theme of the ACTCS Strategic Priorities 2025-27 is our commitment to delivering high-quality correctional services. To support this, we have established six strategic priorities that will guide our work over the next two years.

These priorities set the direction for how we will continue improving our services, strengthening partnerships and supporting better outcomes for the people in our care and the community:

  • Strategic priority 1: To support detainee and offender wellbeing, rehabilitation outcomes to reduce recidivism.
  • Strategic priority 2: To build greater cultural competency and deliver culturally responsive service
  • Strategic priority 3: To promote accessibility and respond more effectively to people with additional and/or complex needs.
  • Strategic priority 4: To maintain effective correctional service delivery to support the safety of offenders and detainees, staff and the community.
  • Strategic priority 5: Transparent decision making and service delivery that respects the humanity and dignity of our detainees, offenders, visitors and staff.
  • Strategic priority 6: To ensure contemporary law is reflected in correctional policy and practice.

The ACTCS Business Plan 2025-26 was developed in line with our strategic priorities.

These priorities align with the strategic priorities of the Justice and Community Safety Directorate.
