An ACT Government Website

Summary

The ACT Corrective Services Suicide Prevention Framework guides how we work with clients to reduce the risk of suicide and suicidal behaviours. This framework is for clients in custody and in the community.

We recognise people serving prison or community sentences are at a higher risk of suicidal behaviour.

We put clients experiencing feelings of suicide and suicidal behaviours at the centre of what we do.

The Framework has 6 focus areas:

  • a safe, secure and caring environment
  • timely identification and support
  • collaboration
  • continuity of care
  • incident management
  • done in a trauma informed way.
