Funding: $25 million

The ACT Government is delivering the infrastructure our growing city needs building a new community centre in Gungahlin.

The community centre will cater to a wide range of needs for Gungahlin residents and will be conveniently located to the light rail and bus interchange.

The designs for the centre were developed in collaboration with key community groups and organisations.

The design features:

  • a youth and work hub
  • multiple art workshops
  • large community 'hall' and various multi-purpose rooms suitable for activities like dance classes, gymnastics, judo, and community meetings
  • large commercial quality kitchen
  • spaces featuring outdoor youth facilities
  • secure bike parking
  • driveway pick-up and drop-off and conveniently located public parking.

Project benefits

  • a multipurpose community space to allow individuals and organisations to share small meeting rooms and larger function areas
  • an accessible and inclusive place to meet
  • a community hub in the Gungahlin Town Centre
  • secure outdoor areas connected to the youth centre and to the community centre main auditorium. The centrepiece of the outdoor area is the 20-metre tall Blakley’s Redgum that has occupied the site for at least the past 100 years.
