A new public primary school is being built in Whitlam to provide high-quality education close to home for families in the growing Molonglo Valley.

Current updates

The school will open for the first primary school cohort in 2027.

Overview

When complete, the Whitlam School will cater for up to 780 students, from preschool to year 6. A future stage will deliver an Early Childhood Education and Care Centre. Planning for this stage is underway.

The school will have modern learning spaces and facilities for school and community use. It will include sustainable design features which will support student and teacher comfort.

Community engagement

A competition was held in late 2025 to name the 31 metre tower crane at the Whitlam School.
