The Garran Primary School expansion and modernisation provides new learning spaces, a preschool, gym and outdoor areas to support growing enrolments in Woden.
Current update
- Stage One of construction finished in November 2025 and delivered brand-new buildings, including a preschool, with modern learning spaces and upgraded facilities.
- Students and staff moved into the new buildings during Term 4, 2025.
- Stage Two will commence in late 2025 and involves demolishing the old buildings, building a new double gymnasium and building new outdoor areas.
Overview
The ACT Government is expanding and modernising Garran Primary School in Woden to meet growing enrolment demand and improve learning environments.
Garran Primary School is attended by more than 600 students from preschool to Year 6. The upgraded school will support up to 975 students and includes new buildings, outdoor spaces and facilities for both education and community use.
The project has commenced Stage 2 which will first involve demolition of the original school buildings and removal of relocatable learning units.
Then construction of a new double gymnasium, outdoor learning and play areas, hard courts, landscaping, and additional parking will commence. It is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
