Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services relocation

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) program will move from the North Canberra Hospital campus in Erindale.

This change is part of the Northside Hospital project and will support ongoing, high-quality care for young people and their families.

Current update

• Shaw Building Group has been appointed as the construction partner for the new CAMHS facility in Erindale.
• Construction is expected to start in late 2026, with the facility anticipated to open in late 2027
• The current CAMHS programs and services will remain operational while the new facility is delivered.

Overview

The new facility will provide a welcoming space for children, young people and families accessing mental health services.

Services moving to the Erindale site include:

• The Cottage Day Program
• CAMHS Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
• The Childhood Early Intervention Program (CEIP)

Community engagement

Staff, students and families will have opportunities to help shape design features of the new facility, ensuring it reflects the needs of the people who use the service.

The project team will continue to engage with stakeholders and neighbouring businesses throughout the project.
