Reconciliation Day 2026 on Monday 1 June takes place on the lawns at John Dunmore Lang Place, Parkes. The lawns are near Questacon and Reconciliation place.
Roadworks and planned road closures may impact travel on the day. Please plan ahead and consider using public transport where possible.
Free public transport for event attendees
Make your journey easier. Leave the car at home or park nearby and finish your trip with Transport Canberra.
Free travel will be available for event attendees across the bus and light rail network between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
How to access free travel
To travel free of charge, simply let your bus driver or Light Rail Customer Service Officer know you’re attending Reconciliation Day.
Passengers travelling to the event do not need to tap on or tap off with a MyWay+ card.
Bus services on the day
Reconciliation Day is an ACT public holiday, so services will operate to a Sunday timetable.
You can travel using regular scheduled services, including:
- Rapid routes - every 30 minutes: R2, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R10
- Local routes - once an hour: 56, 57 and 58
These services connect key interchanges, including Belconnen, City and Woden.

- Standard fares apply to passengers not attending the event
- There are no changes to standard MyWay+ ticketing arrangements
- Please plan your journey in advance and allow extra travel time

Parking information
Our Reconciliation Day Event is held near King Edward Terrace and Parkes Place West (road closed).
Please park in marked carparks. It is illegal to park on grass or on other open space, footpaths or plants. Parking regulations will be enforced for this event, and illegal parking may lead to parking fines.
