An ACT Government Website

The ACT Youth Assembly brings together young Canberrans aged 12 to 25 years to share ideas on how to advance youth issues and is hosted by the ACT Youth Advisory Council. It has been held every 2 years since 2018.

Participants discuss issues and contribute to an ACT Youth Assembly Report, which the ACT Youth Advisory Council presents to the Minister responsible for youth affairs.

Who can attend?

Anyone aged 12 to 25 who lives, studies or works in Canberra and is passionate about making a positive difference for young people can attend.

The ACT Youth Assembly is a free event, but numbers are limited.

If you are younger than 18, your parent or guardian must give consent for you to attend the ACT Youth Assembly.

Up to 10 people can register as a group from the same organisation or school. This is to ensure a wide range of voices on the day.

The next ACT Youth Assembly

The ACT Youth Assembly is a one-day event for Canberrans aged 12 to 25. The Assembly gives these young Canberrans the chance to share ideas and lived experiences directly with the ACT Government.

The Youth Assembly is organised by the Youth Advisory Council and the Office for Youth Engagement. At the Youth Assembly young people can explore key issues and co-design solutions through interactive forums.  These group discussions leading to solutions are a type of deliberative democracy.
