Strengthening Practice Committee

We help Child and Youth Protection Services strengthen the quality of child protection practice in the ACT.

What we do

Our purpose is to improve outcomes for children and young people.

We foster ongoing improvement and support a culture of best practice in the ACT child protection system.

To do this we:

  • consider practice recommendations from internal and external reviews
  • suggest ways to improve our practices in response to current system reforms
  • help CYPS build a learning culture
  • consider research that may contribute to child protection and youth justice practice.

Our members include Community Services Directorate (CSD) leaders and sector experts who have:

  • experience in child protection and youth justice practice
  • knowledge of work in other states and territories
  • research expertise and knowledge of best practices.

We also invite CSD senior leaders to our meetings to contribute their practice experience and share practice or policy challenges.
