Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Guideline
Summary
The upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Guideline Walking together for Country: A collaborative guide to caring for the upper Murrumbidgee Catchment guides how people can work together to care for the upper Murrumbidgee Catchment. This includes:
- governments
- Traditional Custodians
- local communities
- businesses
- any others who care for the land and water.
The Guideline outlines a vision for a healthy, adaptable and liveable catchment. It includes 5 goals, 4 focus areas, and 20 guiding ideas. These will help inform the decisions of anyone working in the catchment.
The Guideline also deals with problems facing the catchment. These include:
- climate change
- increasing population
- pressure on water supplies
- weeds and pests
- pollution
- managing the area across jurisdiction borders.
It replaces the ACT and Region Catchment Strategy 2016–2046, following a review in 2025.
The ACT and Region Catchment Management Coordination Group created the Guideline with input from many people and organisations from the ACT and surrounding region.
