ACT and Region Catchment Management Coordination Group

The ACT and Region Catchment Management Coordination Group was established under the ACT Water Resources Act 2007.

What makes up the catchment region

The ACT and the Australian capital water catchment region (Region) is made up of the catchment area of the Murrumbidgee River upstream of Burrinjuck Dam. This is the area of interest for the ACT and Region Catchment Management Coordination Group (Coordination Group).

The Coordination Group was set up under the ACT Water Resources Act 2007 to provide advice to the ACT Water Minister on water catchment management matters in the ACT and Region.

The Group also:

  • facilitate cross-border collaboration, planning and knowledge sharing related to water and catchment health.
  • identify opportunities to align national, regional and territory investment, including co-investment options to support integrated catchment management.

Members

The  ACT Water Minister appoints the Members.

Dr Maxine Cooper is the independent Chair of the Group. The members are from:

  • ACT Government
  • NSW Government
  • National Capital Authority
  • Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council
  • Yass Valley Council
  • Snowy-Monaro Regional Council
  • South-East Local Land Services
  • Icon Water.
  • Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Network (Community representative)
  • Independent Water Expert
