Funding for trauma support service for young people

Find out how to apply for the Youth Trauma Service Grant. This grant is to establish and develop a new Youth Trauma Service for young people ages 13-18 years.

Youth Trauma Service Grant

This grant is for one or more organisations to establish a new service. This service will target 13 to 18 year olds with complex needs and experiences of trauma. The service will provide support for moderate mental ill health.

The Youth Trauma Service aims to:

  • offer flexible and innovative therapy
  • improve collaboration in the sector
  • improve inclusivity in the sector.

Who this is for

This grant is for organisations that have experience delivering trauma therapy to young people.

What you get

You can get a grant of up to $4.056 million (GST exclusive) over 2 years.

Check if you can apply

Organisations can apply if they are:

  • incorporated
  • a partnership
  • a joint application (consortia)
  • a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation
  • a publicly funded research organisation.

Organisations must also:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN)
  • be GST registered
  • have an account with an Australian financial institution.

Organisations should have experience:

  • delivering specialised trauma therapy
  • providing services to young people.

What you can do

If you’re successful, you’ll provide:

  • free trauma therapy to young people
  • innovative and flexible therapy that is evidence informed
  • liaison and navigation
  • trauma informed practice.

There are 2 stages for the Youth Trauma Service grant. If you're successful in Stage 1 you'll be invited to apply for Stage 2.

We'll assess your Stage 1 application and let you know the result mid-July 2025.

Your application will be assessed against the criteria in the grant guidelines.

If you're selected to apply for Stage 2, we'll contact you by phone and email.
