Funding for public and social housing tenants to participate in their communities
Tenant Participation Grants
This program aims to encourage and support public and social housing tenants to participate in a range of sporting, arts, cultural, education, employment, and training activities. It aims to improve their physical, social, and personal development.
Who this is for
This grant is for public and social housing tenants in the ACT.
What you get
A grant of up to $400.
Check if you can apply
Individuals can apply if they are:
- a public housing tenant or a social housing tenant (community and supported housing) in the ACT
- paying subsidised income-based rent (receive a Rental Rebate)
- in your tenancy for more than 12 months
- aged 19 years and over, or applying on behalf of someone aged between 0-2 years
- able to provide evidence to support any additional costs if the selected activity is over $400.
What you can do
The 2024-25 Tenant Participation grants have 3 funding categories for projects and initiatives:
- Social activities.
- Life skills activities.
- Education and work activities.

We'll assess your application and let you know the result in May 2025 by email.
This grant round is a non-competitive grants process. This means that your application is only checked against the grant guidelines to ensure your eligibility for funding and not against other applications.
Grants will be awarded using the priority areas outlined in the guidelines until the available funding is exhausted.
All decisions on whether to award, or the amount of, a grant is at the sole discretion of the Community Services Directorate.
Successful applicants must enter into an Agreement. This will be by a Letter of Offer with the Community Service Directorate. The Letter of Offer will include:
- the grant we are offering
- how to accept an offer
- details on the funded grant amount
- the purpose or activity for which you have the grant
- the term of your funded activity for which you must expend the grant amount in full.
