Funding to promote women and gender diverse people as valued members of the community
Women’s Participation Grants
This grant is for projects that promote women and gender diverse people as valued members of the ACT community. Projects must address the priorities of the:
- ACT Women’s Plan 2016-26
- supporting Third Action Plan 2023-26.
Projects aim:
- to have a positive effect on women, girls and gender diverse people
- to advance gender equality in the ACT
- for better understanding of or better lives for women who experience discrimination.
Who this is for
This grant is for individuals and organisations.
What you get
A grant of up to $10,000 for individuals, and $25,000 for organisations.
Check if you can apply
Organisations
Organisations can apply if they:
- operate in the ACT
- are a non-government, legally incorporated entity, or supported by an incorporated auspicing organisation
- are a registered not-for-profit or a charitable organisation
- have no overdue acquittals
- have the right insurance to cover the activity.
Individuals
Individuals can apply if they:
- are over the age of 18 years old
- live in the ACT or surrounding regions
- have no overdue acquittals
- have the right insurance to cover the activity.

The 2025-26 Women’s Participation Grants have 5 priority areas for projects and initiatives:
- Health and Wellbeing.
- Housing and Homelessness.
- Safety.
- Economic Security.
- Leadership.
These priorities align with the priorities identified in the ACT Women’s Plan [PDF 1.4MB].

After you apply
We'll assess your application and let you know the result in late March 2026 by email.
Assessing your application
Following the eligibility check, the grant assessment team will assess your application. The team includes:
- a chairperson
- 2 other senior officers from the Health and Community Services Directorate.
We appoint grant assessment team members based on their knowledge of the:
- ACT Women’s Plan and experience of the impact of violence against women and children
- influence of gender on health and wellbeing.
Team members will assess your application against the grant’s selection criteria.
If you’ve been successful in other recent grant rounds, the assessors may consider this during their assessment. This is to ensure fairness if we receive a high number of applications.
All decisions on the amount of a grant or whether to award a grant are at the sole discretion of the Health and Community Services Directorate.
If you get the grant
Successful applicants must enter into an Agreement. This will be by a Letter of Offer with the Health and Community Service Directorate. The Letter of Offer will include:
- the grant we are offering
- how to accept an offer
- details on the funded grant amount
- the purpose or activity for which we have the grant
- the term of your funded activity for which you must expend the grant amount in full
- how to acquit your grant funds when you have completed the project.

- University of Canberra - $12,672 - Empowering ACT’s grassroot-level multicultural women entrepreneurs: A 16-week online training program focusing on financial literacy and micro-investment skills for multicultural women.
- Australian National University Law Students’ Society - $3,094 - ANU Law Society Women’s Autonomous Initiative: Multiple seminars for female and gender diverse law students to develop their oral advocacy skills and provide targeted funding for women to participate in external competitions.
- ZamZam Foundation Incorporated - $8,950 - Driving lessons for women from Afghanistan: Driving lessons for 10 Afghan women.
- Australian National University Women's Football Club (ANUWFC) - $6,694 - Women's football: Access to elite pathways: ANU Women’s Football Club to participate in the National Premier League Women (NPLW) competition.
- Forcibly Displaced People Network Ltd - $13,000 - Workplace Self-Advocacy for LGBTIQA+ culturally and linguistically diverse women: An interactive online training module and a social media awareness campaign to address challenges faced by LGBTIQA+ refugee women and migrant women.
