Supporting access to GPs for children in the ACT
This grant supports GP practices and primary care providers in the ACT to offer bulk billing for children under 16. It aims to make healthcare more affordable for families and improve access to high-quality care.
Who this is for
You can apply for this grant if you are:
- a general practice (for-profit or not-for-profit)
- an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary care
- a community service or not-for-profit organisation delivering primary care
- an individual GP or nurse practitioner operating in the ACT.
Applicants must:
- be accredited against RACGP Standards or equivalent
- have an ABN
- hold current professional indemnity insurance (and public liability insurance if applicable)
- commit to bulk billing children under 16 for eligible Medicare services during the grant period.
What you get
Total funding pool: $1.5 million.
Grants typically range from $50,000 to $300,000 depending on scale and complexity.
Larger amounts may be considered if strong evidence supports outcomes.

What you can do
Your project must enable bulk billing for children under 16.
Examples of projects include:
- implementing innovative models to improve quality and efficiency
- ICT and digital upgrades
- business management and administrative improvements
- minor refurbishments to meet accreditation requirements
- integrated care programs and multidisciplinary approaches

We'll assess your Pitch and let you know the result via email.
Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full application in Stage 2. The Assessment Panel scores the applications against the assessment criteria.
If you’re invited to Stage 2, you'll need to give us evidence of:
- proof of accreditation
- ABN
- insurance certificates (where relevant)
- capacity to bulk bill children under 16
If you get the grant
If you are successful, you will need to enter into a Deed of Grant with the ACT Government setting out the terms and conditions for which funding will be provided, including acquittal requirements within the agreed timeframe.
