Allied Health Scholarship Scheme
This scholarship is for eligible allied health staff for further study, particularly in areas that have staff shortages.
Who this is for
ACT Government allied health staff.
What you get
Funding for tuition fees.
How much funding depends on:
- how many people apply
- how much budget is available.
You must pay your tuition fees up front. You will be reimbursed after you successfully complete the approved units of study in each semester.
Check if you can apply
You can apply if you’re an allied health staff member working for the ACT Public Service.
You must be permanently employed or have a continuous temporary contract for at least 12 months before the application closing date.
You must also:
- be employed as an eligible allied health professional or allied health assistant
- have a minimum of 2 years full time work experience in a related field of practice or equivalent for part-time staff.
You cannot apply to this scheme to do a different course of study if you’ve received an Allied Health Scholarship in the last 12 months.

What you can do
The course must focus on either:
- allied health practice
- allied health education
- health service management and leadership
- research or data science.
You must demonstrate how your course will contribute to your organisation's core values and strategic priorities.
Eligible courses are:
- relevant to your allied health discipline or assistant practice, workplace, or organisation
- at least 6 months long (if you are an allied health professional) OR short courses (if you are an allied health assistant).
Study support
ACT Public Service employees must complete the ACT public service studies assistance application form for approval as a student.
You may be eligible for work area supported study leave.

Check what you need to apply
You must provide:
- names and email addresses of two senior ACT Public Service referees
- curriculum vitae
- up-to-date duty statement
- evidence of employment status
- evidence of current registration or alternate evidence
- evidence of enrolment in course
- copy of or link to course outline
- copy of invoice for the relevant period of study.
After you apply
We'll advise you in writing of the outcome.
Assessing your application
The assessment panel considers each eligible application on its merit. The assessment panel includes:
- a scholarship administrator
- 2 allied health representatives from ACT Government.
If you get the scholarship
If you’re successful, you will be notified of your scholarship offer in writing. You must formally accept or decline the offer in writing.
You will be reimbursed at the end of each semester of study you pass.
The scholarship does not include:
- student Services and Amenities Fees (SSAF)
- late fees
- course books
- training materials
- costs associated with face-to-face on-campus attendance
- any other study related costs or arrangements including study leave, accommodation, salary and wages or travel.
