Seniors Grant
This grant is for projects that promote older Canberrans as valued members of the local community. Projects should help older Canberrans participate in community life. Projects can address:
- elder abuse
- enhanced social inclusion
- the diverse needs of older members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Who this is for
This grant is for community organisations that support older Canberrans.
What you get
A grant of up to $10,000.
Check if you can apply
Organisations can apply if they:
- operate in the ACT
- are a non-government, legally incorporated entity, or supported by an incorporated auspicing organisation
- are a registered not-for-profit or a charitable organisation
- have no overdue acquittals
- have the right insurance to cover your activity.
What you can do
Your project or initiative can focus on one or more of the following:
- Respect and inclusion of older Canberrans.
- Awareness of elder abuse and supported decision making.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander seniors.

- Register or log into your account.
- Follow the instructions to complete your application.
- Submit your application before the close date.
After you apply
We'll assess your application and let you know the result in April 2025 by email.
Assessing your application
Following the eligibility check, the Grant Assessment Team will assess your application. The Grant Assessment Team includes:
- a chairperson
- 2 other assessors.
It may also include a representative from the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing.
We appoint Grant Assessment Team members based on their knowledge of the priority areas.
Grant Assessment Team members will assess your application with the information you provided against the grant’s selection criteria.
If you have been successful in other recent grant rounds, the assessors may consider this during their assessment if we receive a high number of applications. This is to ensure fairness across all applicants.
All decisions on whether to award, or the amount of, a grant is at the sole discretion of the Community Services Directorate.
If you get the grant
Successful applicants must enter into an Agreement. This will be by a Letter of Offer with the Community Service Directorate. The Letter of Offer will include:
- the grant we are offering
- how to accept an offer
- details on the funded grant amount
- the purpose or activity for which you have the grant
- the term of your funded activity for which you must expend the grant amount in full
- how to acquit your grant funds when you have completed the project.
