ACT Nursing and Midwifery Leadership Capability Framework
Summary
The ACT Nursing and Midwifery Leadership Capability Framework has been developed through a collaborative and inclusive co-design approach, led by the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer within the Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD). Co-designed in partnership with the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Leaders Network and informed by contemporary literature, the Framework recognises the critical role of strong nursing and midwifery leadership in improving patient outcomes, supporting workforce sustainability, and advancing health equity.
The Framework embeds culturally safe and inclusive practices, alongside contemporary leadership approaches, and emphasises the importance of representation across the nursing and midwifery professions. It is designed to empower the workforce to lead, innovate, and adapt to evolving healthcare needs, ultimately improving outcomes for patients, families, and consumers while supporting professional growth and workforce satisfaction.
