Caring for Dhawura Ngunnawal, a natural resource plan for the ACT 2022-2042

Cabinet agreed the Caring for Dhawura Ngunnawal, a natural resource plan for the ACT 2022-2042, and the NRM Plan Addendum - RLP outcomes in the ACT and future publication of both documents.
The proposal is anticipated to positively impact the wellbeing of the Canberra community as it provides a shared vision and framework for managing the natural resources of the ACT which enhances the Territory’s liveability and prosperity, and promotes the well-being of residents for a healthy, connected and sustainable future. The proposal will have wellbeing impacts across the environment and climate, and governance and institutions, wellbeing domains.
Ministerial Statement - Youth mental health support - Assembly Resolution of 1 December 2022 - Government Response

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Mental Health to deliver a Ministerial Statement on Youth Mental Health Support in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
It is anticipated the impact of the youth mental health activities and initiatives outlined in the Ministerial Statement for Youth Mental Health will have significant impacts on child and youth mental health and wellbeing. The initiatives provided in the statement will provide ongoing support for children and young people in the ACT and will work to reduce psychological distress and promote positive mental health.
Bees and other pollinators in the ACT

Cabinet agreed the Minister for the Environment deliver the Ministerial Statement ‘Bees and other pollinators in the ACT’ in the ACT Legislative Assembly in response to the Assembly Resolution of 22 November 2022.
The ACT supports a diverse array of bees and other pollinators which provide critical ecosystem services in relation to food production and the maintenance of native ecosystems. Native pollinators such as bees, beetles, moths, butterflies, birds, and bats support the pollination and genetic diversity of native vegetation communities, while the introduced European honeybee is an important pollinator for a diversity of food crops grown locally as an important aspect of the ACT economy.
Seeking endorsement for ACT to formally agree to changes to the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse following recommendations from the Second year Review

Cabinet agreed to endorse changes to the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse following recommendations from the Second Year Review.
Changes to the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse following recommendations from the Second Year Review will have wellbeing impacts in the Governance and Institutions domain. This includes impacts for a select group of stakeholders (including applicants in jail and former child migrants) who under the proposed changes will be granted access to the Scheme, and for all stakeholders accessing the Scheme, who will benefit from procedural and administrative amendments to make the Scheme more efficient, trauma-informed and survivor-focused.
ACT Government Senate Inquiry Submission – National Cultural Policy

Cabinet agreed to the provision of an ACT Government Submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Environment and Communications Inquiry into the National Cultural Policy.
The ACT Government Senate Inquiry Submission will provide the opportunity to advocate for and to increase visibility of the ACT and its creative sector. The benefit of arts and culture on wellbeing for the entire community is well documented.
Engagement with arts and culture delivers beneficial effects on health, living standards, economy, access and connectivity, identity and belonging, social connection, education and lifelong learning.
Ministerial Statement - ACT Youth Week 2023

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs present a Ministerial Statement on Youth Week in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The Youth Week Statement addresses the ACT Government’s commitment to providing opportunities for young people in the ACT to actively participate and engage in society through events and activities. The Wellbeing Domain addressed is Identity and Belonging.
