Summary of Cabinet outcomes
As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.
ACT Executive meeting with the Indigenous Elected Body
Prior to the Cabinet meeting, the ACT Executive met with the Indigenous Elected Body. A media release on the meeting between the Executive and the Indigenous Elected Body is available on Chief Minister's website.
Spring 2011 Legislation Program
Cabinet agreed the proposed Spring 2011 Legislation Program and noted the outcomes of the Autumn 2011 Legislation Program. The Spring Legislation Program will be tabled on the first day of the August 2011 sitting. The ACT Legislative Assembly website

Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Amendment (Fair Protection for Firefighters Bill 2011
Cabinet agreed the ACT Government submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Education, Employment and Workplace Relations looking at a Bill introduced into the Australian Parliament by the Australian Greens Mr Bandt MP. The Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (SRC) Amendment (Fair Protection for Firefighters) Bill 2011 seeks to amend the current provisions for firefighters under the SRC Act. Education Act Amendment Bill 2011
Cabinet agreed to amend the Education Act 2004 as part of a number of complementary legislative changes to enable the ACT's participation under the National Quality Framework. Amendments will address preschool assessment and rating, as well as reflecting the amalgamation of the ACT public school preschool units with the ACT public schools.
Appointments
Cabinet agreed the proposed part-time appointment of the Education Member of the Government Schools Education Council representing the Parent Associations. The appointment is for three years. The Education Minister will announce the appointment following consultation with the Standing Committee on Education, Training and Youth Affairs.
