Summary of Cabinet outcomes

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet.  It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet.  Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy.  Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Committees of Cabinet

Prior to Cabinet meeting, a meeting of the Budget Committee was held.  Treasury officials joined with Ministers to discuss matters of fiscal significance.

Direct Sale to the Scout Association of Australia ACT Branch Incorporated

Cabinet agreed the Scout Association of Australia ACT Branch is eligible to apply for a direct sale of Block 4, Section 19, Yarralumla, for the purposes of an aquatic recreation facility.  A map of the subject land is available on the Economic Development Websiteimg-icn-extlink.

ACT Government submission to the 2012 National Infrastructure Priorities Update

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government’s submission to the 2012 National Infrastructure Priorities update.  The submission was provided to Infrastructure Australia (IA) with a view to securing Commonwealth involvement in the Northbourne Avenue Transport Corridor initiative.  The project is currently in the early stages of development.  Further information will be provided to IA in early 2012.

Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020 and ACT Road Safety Action Plan 2011-2013

Cabinet endorsed the Road Safety Strategy 2011 2020 and the Road Safety Action Plan 2011 2013.  The Strategy and Action Plan are designed to support the National Road Safety Strategy and moves the ACT towards the goal of ‘Vision Zero’, which ultimately aims for no one being killed or seriously injured on Territory roads.

Corrections and Sentencing Legislation Amendment Bill 2011

Cabinet agreed to introduce minor legislation amendments to the Crimes (Sentencing) Act 2005, the Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005 and the Corrections Management Act 2007 to resolve specific operational issues identified by the courts, ACT Corrective Services and the Sentence Administration Board.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the following appointments:

Exhibition Park Corporation Board

Re-appointment of Ms Robyn Hendry and Ms Jean McIntyre as part time members.

Legal Aid Review Committee

Appointment of Mr Brendan Church as a part time member from 1 December 2011 to 30 November 2014.
