Summary of Cabinet Outcomes

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet.  It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet.  Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy.  Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Committees of Cabinet

Meetings of the Budget Committee were held.  Treasury officials joined with Ministers to discuss matters of fiscal significance.

Centenary of Canberra

Cabinet was provided a presentation on the Centenary of Canberra Project.  The presentation informed Ministers of planning activities underway and the scheduled release of information relating to the program of events for the Centenary year.

GST Distribution Review

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government’s Supplementary Submission to the Review of GST Distribution, which responds to the GST Distribution Review Panel’s Supplementary Issues Paper.  The Supplementary Issues Paperimg-icn-extlink and the ACT Government's Submssionimg-icn-extlink can be accessed on the  GST Dirsbribution Review website.

ACT Submission to the Review of the Fair Work Act 2009

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government Submission to the Australian Government’s Review of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).  The ACT’s Submission generally supports the operation of the Act, however, suggests further reviews in the future.  The Terms of Reference for the Fair Work Act Reviewimg-icn-extlink and the ACT Government's Submissionimg-icn-extlink is available on the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations website.

Appointments

Professional Standards Council

Cabinet agreed to endorse the proposed re-appointment of part time members to the Professional Standards Council, subject to Standing Committee consultation

Flora and Fauna Committee

Cabinet agreed to endorse the proposed appointment of members to the Flora and Fauna Committee, subject to Standing Committee consultation.

Ministerial Advisory Council on Women

Cabinet agreed to endorse the following proposed appointments to the Ministerial Advisory Council on Women:

Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Authority

Cabinet agreed to endorse the proposed appointment of an Employee Representative to the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Board, subject to Standing Committee consultation.
