Summary of Cabinet outcomes

Directors Liability Legislation Amendment

Cabinet agreed the Directors Liability Legislation Amendment Bill 2012 be introduced in the Legislative Assembly during the November 2012 sitting week.

Directors’ Liability is one of the 27 regulatory reforms under the Seamless National Economy National Partnership Agreement.  The reform aims to achieve national consistency through a principled approach to imposing personal criminal liability on directors or other corporate officers for corporate fault.  The Bill amends thirteen ACT laws which impose executive liability, to ensure that such liability is appropriately cast.  The Bill and explanatory statement are available on the ACT Legislation Registerimg-icn-extlink

Amendments to the Racing Act 1999

Cabinet agreed the Racing Amendment Bill 2012 (the Bill) be introduced in the Legislative Assembly during the November 2012 sitting week.
The Bill amends the existing race field information charge scheme, to enable industry to directly set and collect race field information charges from wagering operators.  This responds to emerging developments in charging models across Australia, arising from a High Court decision in relation to the New South Wales charging model earlier this year.
