Summary of Cabinet outcomes
As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.
Canberra Integrated Urban Waterways Trial
Cabinet agreed to a stormwater harvesting trial in the inner north of Canberra. The network will be owned and operated by a utility established by the Territory and managed by the Territory and Municipal Services Directorate. Cabinet agreed to a set price range for the five-year trial period, consistent with the recommendation by the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission. The stormwater harvesting infrastructure is scheduled to commence operation by December 2012 with annual progress reporting.
The trial will inform future decision making regarding the longer term costs and benefits of broad scale stormwater harvesting in the ACT. A network diagram is available on the Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate website

Direct Sale of Part Block 1622 Tuggeranong to Lions Youth Haven Incorporated
Cabinet agreed to endorse the direct sale of Part Block 1622 Tuggeranong to Lions Youth Haven Incorporated, in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2007. A map of Part Block 1622 Tuggeranong is available on the Economic Development Directorate website![]()
Exposure Draft of the Information Privacy Bill 2012
Cabinet agreed to the Attorney-General releasing an exposure draft of the Information Privacy Bill 2012 to regulate the handling of personal information (other than personal health information) by public sector agencies in the Territory. An Exposure Draft of the Information Privacy Bill 2012 is available on the Legislation Register
for public consultation for a period of six months.
Update on the Red Tape Reduction Panel
Cabinet considered an update from the Red Tape Reduction Panel. The Panel is one of the initiatives of the Business Development Strategy released in April this year. This small, expert panel, consisting of senior government officials and key business association members, is focused on identifying and removing unnecessary red tape impacting on ACT businesses. A number of priority reform projects have been agreed by Cabinet, with targeted programs to address these issues being developed.
