Summary of Cabinet Outcomes

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Courts Resourcing

The Director-General of the Justice and Community Safety Directorate provided a presentation to Cabinet on Courts Resourcing.

Lifetime Care and the National Injury Insurance Scheme

Cabinet considered the ACT position with regard to implementation of a National Injury Insurance Scheme. Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), a nationally consistent, no-fault lifetime care and support scheme will be implemented, assisting people catastrophically injured in an accident who would otherwise be assisted under the NDIS.


Future use of Former Education Facilities at Kambah and Higgins

Cabinet agreed to proceed with actions to enable the potential redevelopment of former Government education facilities at Kambah (the sites of the former Village Creek and Urambi Primary Schools) and Higgins. With regard to future redevelopment of the Higgins site, Cabinet agreed to undertake an investigation and appropriate community consultation on potential future uses. The site plans are available on the EDD website.

ACT Submission to the Review of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (2002)

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government’s Submission to the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Transport on the Review of the Disability Service Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002.

Appointments

Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of Dr Geoffrey Farrell and Ms Jan Weir as members to the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Sexual Health, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Related Diseases.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the reappointment of Ms Lynette Brown, Professor Nicholas Glasgow, Ms Mary Montgomery and Dr Rashmi Sharma to the ACT Local Hospital Network Council.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the below reappointments to the ACT Natural Resource Management Advisory Committee:
* Mr Ian Fraser (Chairperson)
* Mr Paul Davies (Deputy Chairperson)
* Dr Lyn Hinds
* Dr Greg Richards
* Dr Rosemary Purdie; and
* Ms Anne Duncan

Cabinet agreed to endorse proposed appointments to the ACT Tree Advisory Committee, subject to Standing Committee consultation.

Cabinet agreed to endorse proposed appointments to the ACT Public Cemeteries Authority Board, subject to Standing Committee consultation.

Cabinet agreed to endorse proposed appointments to the Government Schools Education Council, subject to Standing Committee consultation. The Chief Minister absented herself from discussion on these appointments due to a potential conflict of interest.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of an Official Visitor, subject to Standing Committee consultation.
