1 July 2014 - Summary of Cabinet Outcomes

As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, these are public summaries of matters considered by Cabinet. They are not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and do not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

Loose Fill Asbestos Meeting

A special meeting about loose fill asbestos was convened.  Officials joined with Ministers to discuss the current issues and consider available assistance measures to affected ACT residents and homeowners.  Details of the available assistance measures can be found on the ACT Government Asbestos Taskforce webpage.

Whole of Government Framework for Community Facilities

Cabinet agreed in principle to the introduction to a whole of government approach to the management of community facilities in the ACT, subject to further consideration of the implementation arrangements.  A single ACT Government community facilities approach is expected to lead to improved facilities management which will allow organisations to optimise service delivery.

Public Housing Replacement Strategy

Cabinet agreed to a framework and proposed approach to redevelopment activity of public housing properties along Northbourne Avenue and for future public housing renewal activity across the ACT.

Appointments

ACTTAB LIMITED Board Appointments

Cabinet agreed to endorse the proposed appointments of two members to the ACTTAB Limited Board, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

ACTEW Related Board Appointments

Cabinet agreed to endorse the proposed appointment of two members to the boards of ACTEW Distribution Limited and ACTEW Retail Limited for the duration of their terms at ACTEW Corporation, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

Appointment of Supreme Court Registrar

Cabinet agreed to endorse the reappointment of Ms Annie Glover as the Supreme Court Registrar for a period of five years.
