SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES WEEK COMMENCING 30 MARCH 2015

As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

Committees of Cabinet

A Capital Metro Subcommittee of Cabinet meeting was convened. Ministers were provided with an update on the Capital Metro project and considered options for the future delivery of a light rail service for the ACT.

Two Budget Committee of Cabinet meetings were convened. Treasury officials joined Ministers to discuss matters of fiscal significance.

Economic Growth and Urban Renewal Subcommittee

An Economic Growth and Urban Renewal Subcommittee of Cabinet meeting was convened. Ministers and relevant officials were presented with analysis and design options for a range of urban renewal projects, including Parkes Way and West Basin, and discussed relevant variations to the Territory Plan along with Capital Metro related issues.

Social Inclusion and Equity Subcommittee

A Social Inclusion and Equity Subcommittee of Cabinet meeting was convened. Ministers and relevant officials discussed the ACT's framework and options in relation to reducing domestic violence.

Children and Young People Amendment Bill 2015 (No. 3)

Cabinet agreed to amendments being drafted to the Children and Young People Act 2008 to support the implementation of the 'A Step Up for Our Kids' Out of Home Care Strategy 2015–2020.

Eastern Broadacre Employment Lands Strategic Assessment

Cabinet noted the planning work that has been undertaken to date on the Eastern Broadacre area and that a strategic assessment has been commissioned under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Diversity Conservation Act 1999 to facilitate land release and development of this area.

Appointment of Official Visitors (for the purposes of the Children and Young People Act 2008)

Cabinet endorsed the reappointments of two part-time Official Visitors for a period of five months commencing on 8 May 2015, subject to endorsement by the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety.

Ministerial Advisory Council Appointment

Cabinet endorsed the appointment of a member to the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing from 6 April 2015 to 31 December 2015.
