SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES FOR 8 SEPTEMBER 2015

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Committees of Cabinet

The Capital Metro Subcommittee of Cabinet met to consider updates on the Capital Metro project.

Public Transport Issues in the ACT

Cabinet discussed reforms recommended from the ongoing Taxi Industry Innovation Review and other public transport reform issues in the ACT.

Government responses

Cabinet approved the following proposed government responses.

  • Government Response to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts Report 14: Review of the Auditor-General’s Reports No. 7 of 2014 (2013-14 Financial Audits) and No. 7 of 2013 (2012-13 Financial Audits).
  • Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report on the Bulk Water Alliance: Report No. 6/2015.
  • Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report on the Sale of ACTTAB: Report No. 7/2015.

Animal Diseases Act 2005 Amendment – Beekeeper Registration

Cabinet agreed to preparation of an amendment to the Animal Diseases Act 2005 to provide biosecurity mitigation mechanisms in relation to beekeeping. This amendment will introduce a code of practice and registration scheme specifically for beekeepers.

Spent Convictions (Historical Homosexual Convictions Extinguishment) Amendment Bill 2015

Cabinet agreed to introduction of the Spent Convictions (Historical Homosexual Convictions Extinguishment) Amendment Bill 2015. The Bill will provide a scheme for people to apply to have an historical conviction for consensual homosexual sex extinguished.

Appointments

Cabinet endorsed the proposed:

  • appointment of a Deputy-Chair to the Government Procurement Board; and
  • appointment to the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Advisory Committee.
