SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES FOR WEEK OF 4 APRIL 2016
As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.
Committees of Cabinet
A meeting of the Budget Committee of Cabinet was convened. Ministers and Treasury officials discussed items of fiscal importance to the ACT.
Update on the ACT Government response to the issue of Mr Fluffy Loose Fill Asbestos
Cabinet endorsed the update on the Government Response to the Mr Fluffy Loose Fill Asbestos issue to be tabled in the Legislative Assembly in the April sitting week.
Final report on investigation of asbestos contamination at Block 789 Gungahlin (Recommendation 56, Select Committee on Estimates
2015-16)
Cabinet considered the final report on the investigation into asbestos contamination at Block 789 Gungahlin, which has been prepared in response to Recommendation 56 of the Select Committee on Estimates 2015-16. Cabinet agreed that the report be tabled in the Legislative Assembly in the April sitting week.
Lifetime Care and Support (Catastrophic Injuries) Amendment Bill 2016
Cabinet endorsed the presentation of the Lifetime Care and Support (Catastrophic Injuries) Amendment Bill 2016 in the Legislative Assembly in the April sitting week. The Bill makes a number of amendments to the Lifetime Care and Support (Catastrophic Injuries) Act 2014 to extend the Scheme to cover workers and comply with the National Injury Insurance Scheme.
Road Transport (Third-Party Insurance) Act 2008 Section 275 Review
Cabinet endorsed the presentation of the Section 275 Review of the Road Transport (Third-Party Insurance) Act 2008 in the Legislative Assembly in the April sitting week. The ACT CTP Scheme Actuary has independently reviewed the operation of the CTP Act based on the claims and premiums experience over the three years to 31 December 2015.
Long Service Leave (Portable Schemes) Amendment Bill 2016
Cabinet endorsed the presentation of the Long Service Leave (Portable Schemes) Amendment Bill 2016 in the Legislative Assembly in the April sitting week. The Bill amends the Long Service Leave (Portable Schemes) Act 2009 to resolve technical issues and make minor adjustments to meet the prevailing economic circumstances of covered industries.
