Phases of therapeutic care
Summary
Working with traumatised children requires a phased approach to therapeutic care. This allows for the child to build trust and safety to help them begin to heal and recover. It is highly likely children entering out of home care have been exposed to significant neglect and abuse in utero, their formative years and as adolescents. A phased model of therapeutic care is important for these children.
