Summary

The Public Safety CCTV Network is an ACT Government owned network of CCTV systems located at various public venues and open spaces.

The Public Safety CCTV Network supports:

  • public safety monitoring
  • resource management
  • emergency response
  • criminal investigation and prosecution purposes.

The Public Safety CCTV Network includes approximately 90 cameras installed in:

  • Canberra City
  • Braddon
  • Dickson
  • Haig Park
  • Henry Rolland Park (Acton)
  • Glebe Park
  • Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC)
  • Manuka Oval
  • Manuka Shopping Precinct
  • National Arboretum Canberra
  • Kingston Shopping Precinct
  • Greenway Central Business District
  • Gibraltar Falls
  • Jerrabomberra Wetlands carpark (Fyshwick)
  • Mount Taylor carparks
  • Cotter Road
  • Throsby

The cameras operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Live and recorded footage from the cameras is available to government and ACT Policing.

The Public Safety CCTV Network is administered and managed by the Justice and Community Safety Directorate, Security and Emergency Division (SEMD).

SEMD work closely with ACT Policing and directorates to identify locations for permanent and temporary deployment of CCTV cameras in response to reported incidents or providing public safety monitoring during major events.

Directorates may elect for their CCTV systems to be included in the Public Safety CCTV Network, and for live and recorded CCTV information to be available to ACT Policing by entering into an Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding between the Territory and ACT Policing.
