ACT Corrective Services sexual coercion and violence strategy
Summary
The ACT Corrective Services Preventing, tracking and responding to sexual coercion and violence in the Alexander Maconochie Centre (Sexual coercion and violence strategy), shows our commitment to keeping our adult corrections centre a safe and respectful place.
We developed it in response to Recommendation 7 of the Inspector of Custodial Services’ Healthy Prison Review 2022.
This strategy will address the issues we face.
We have based the strategy on the principles of:
- human rights
- cultural sensitivity
- inclusion.
The strategy will:
- address the risks of sexual coercion and violence
- hold perpetrators accountable
- make sure staff and detainees can report incidents and get support.
It focuses on the Alexander Maconochie Centre. We also have a zero-tolerance approach to sexual coercion and violence across ACT Corrective Services.
