Writing Themselves In 4 Survey
Summary
In 2019, the Office of LGBTIQA+ Affairs worked with La Trobe University to create a report for the ACT as part of the Writing Themselves In 4 survey. This survey is the biggest study in Australia on the health and wellbeing of LGBTQA+ young people.
The ACT report looked at the experiences of 300 LGBTQA+ young people in Canberra, making it the biggest survey sample in the region at that time.
The report focuses on key areas that affect LGBTQA+ young people, including:
- mental health challenges
- discrimination and its effects
- supportive relationships with family and friends
- involvement in the community.
This report provides important insights to help improve support and services for LGBTQA+ young people in the ACT.
