Funding: $60 million

Raising London Circuit is part of the Light Rail to Woden project. The project lifts London Circuit to meet Commonwealth Avenue, improving road connections and preparing for future light rail to Woden.

Current update

  • London Circuit east is now open to vehicle traffic in both directions between Commonwealth Avenue and Constitution Avenue. Download map.
  • New walking paths and dedicated cycle lanes on London Circuit, between Constitution Avenue and Edinburgh Avenue, are now complete.
  • London Circuit west remains closed to on-road traffic to enable construction works for Light Rail Stage 2A. Signage is in place to safely detour the community around all works in the area as required.

Overview

The Raising London Circuit project will raise the road level of London Circuit so it connects seamlessly with Commonwealth Avenue.

This change will improve road connections in the city centre and make way for future light rail to Woden.

The project is a major step in reshaping Canberra’s gateway into the city, creating safer, more accessible, and more efficient transport links.
