Commissioning health services

Commissioning is a new way of designing, funding, and delivering a fit for purpose human services system within the ACT. It is a methodology that ensures our system, and the services and programs within it, are meeting the needs of our community.

The ACT Health and Community Services Directorates jointly developed the ACT Approach to Commissioning for health and community services in 2021. The ACT Approach to Commissioning is informed by the voices, insights and experiences of non-government sector partners and community members. It articulates a shared understanding of how government and the community sector will work in partnership to deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for the Canberra Community.

The Commissioning Roadmap 2022-2024 provides the framework for commissioning across ACT Government. The Roadmap positions commissioning in the context of a 10-year reform of the human services system to ensure that the system meets the needs of Canberrans, particularly those experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage.
