An ACT Government Website

We fund a range of community services as part of the ACT's public health system. This includes agreements with about 70 non-government providers for the delivery of more than 100 health and mental health services.

Commissioning

Commissioning is an effective way of designing, funding, and delivering services to meet Canberra's health care needs. It is a process that ensures our health services and programs are meeting the needs of our community.

The ACT Health and Community Services Directorates have jointly developed the ACT approach to commissioning for community and health services. As a result of this work, the ACT has as a single approach to commissioning services.

The ACT approach to commissioning:

  • is jointly agreed between the ACT Health Directorate, Community Services Directorate and non-government providers
  • is dynamic and will evolve as commissioning work progresses
  • has guided the development of the 2024 Commissioning Roadmap.
