What we do
We are a diverse directorate delivering essential services Canberrans rely on each day. We strive to ensure Canberra remains a great place to live, work and relax.
Our services include:
- cemeteries in Hall, Woden and Gungahlin
- domestic animal services
- local infrastructure projects
- maintaining public spaces such as sportsgrounds, urban parks and play spaces
- public land use permits
- public libraries
- public transport including buses and light rail

Advisory councils and reference groups
Accessibility Reference Group – provides a forum to represent the interests of Canberra residents with a variety of accessibility needs.
Grants and funding
- ACT Road Safety Fund Grants Program for road safety education and public awareness campaigns, research, road safety audits and feasibility studies into road design and construction.
- Adopt-a-Park grants for Urban Parks and Places volunteer groups who care for our urban open spaces.
