Pest animals
A pest is an animal that harms the ACT's natural biodiversity and productivity of rural lands.
Pests can compete with and prey on native species, spread parasites and diseases, damage habitats, and harm crops and pastures.
The Biosecurity (Pests) Declaration 2025 lists declared pests within the ACT.
The ACT Pest Animal Management Strategy uses a national approach to managing pests. It focuses on reducing the damage caused by pests, rather than just reducing pest numbers.
