Book a visit

If you are on a detainee’s approved visitor list, you can make a booking to visit them at the AMC.

Before you book, check when you can visit.

Visits during the 2025 holiday period

Visit bookings for the holiday period will be closing at 12pm midday on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen on Friday 2 January 2026.

Booking requests made between 25 December and 2 January will not be actioned.

Visitors can book their visits for the holiday period from 15 December 2025 (see below for more information).

Between 15 December and 24 December, visit confirmation texts will be sent 2 days before the visit. Confirmation texts for the holiday period will be sent on 24 December 2025.

There will be no visits on Christmas Day. Detainees that usually have visits on Thursday’s will have a make up day on Monday, 29 December 2025.

Enhanced visits during the holiday period

Although there are 3 enhanced time slots over the shutdown period, to ensure equity, enhanced detainees will only be able to have 1 weekend enhanced visit during the shutdown period. This means visitors will not be able to book multiple visits during this time.

Our goal is to give everyone the opportunity to see their loved ones. Detainees will then be placed on a waitlist for enhanced weekend visits if additional spaces are available once bookings close. Visitors will be notified if any additional visits can be facilitated.

How to make a booking

You need to make a booking at least 3 business days before the day you want to visit. Business days are Monday to Friday. Public holidays are not counted as a business day.

To make a booking:

1. Call 1300 286 583 and select option 1.
2. Record a message with the following details:
   • your name and phone number
   • the name of the person you want to visit
   • if you want to visit in person or over Zoom
   • the day and time you want to visit
   • the name of other visitors coming at the same time.

We will call or text you to confirm the details of your visit.

Not all visits are approved. We will contact you if your visit is not allowed and tell you why.

Change or cancel a visit

To change or cancel a booking please call at least 2 days before your scheduled visit.

To change or cancel a visit:

1. Call 1300 286 583 and select option 1.
2. Record a message with the following details:
   • your name and phone number
   • the name of the person you were visiting
   • the day and time of the booking you want to cancel
   • if you want to cancel or reschedule, and the date you want to reschedule to.

We will call or text you to confirm the cancellation and your new visit time and date, if you asked for one.
